Always a great stay

We just got back from another all-inclusive hotelovernachting and it was as consistent as ever. This is our third time here, and they always deliver. The buffet restaurant was good, and the access to the zwemparadijs is a big hit with the kids. It's why we keep coming back when we visit Assen.

Decent price for a family trip

First time booking here, got a good deal on a familieuitje package. I was looking for something that included activities and food without breaking the bank. The zwemparadijs was fun for the kids, and having all meals sorted with the all-in concept made it easy. It felt worth the money, especially with the early-bird booking discount I found.

Had a nice weekend

Just got back from a weekend stay. It was pretty chill. We did the all-inclusive thing, so food and drinks were covered, which was nice. The pool area was good, spent a lot of time there. Room was comfy enough. No complaints, it was a good getaway.

Good value, minor issues

I booked the all-in arrangement for a weekend. The value for what you get, like the zwemparadijs toegang and meals, is pretty good. The hotelkamer comfort was fine, clean enough. My only minor complaint was the check-in took a bit longer than expected; seemed a bit understaffed at that moment. Overall, a solid choice for a family trip.

Detailed stay experience

We opted for the all-inclusive package with a hotelkamer deluxe for three nights. Booking online was straightforward enough, no real issues there. Upon arrival, check-in was smooth, and our room was ready. The deluxe room was spacious and clean, though the view wasn't spectacular. We used the zwemparadijs daily, which was well-maintained. The buffet restaurant offered a decent variety, but it could get a bit crowded during peak dinner hours. We also tried the bowlingbaan, which was fun. Customer service at the reception was helpful when we had a question about local attractions. Delivery of extra towels to the room was quick. Everything worked as expected, making for a relaxing stay.

Thinking of booking a last-minute weekend. Do they actually have good last-minute offers, or are they just trying to clear rooms at full price?

K Kyle Taylor 3 days ago
They do sometimes have last-minute deals, especially if it's off-peak. I snagged a pretty good rate for a Sunday-Monday once, but don't expect huge discounts for a Friday-Saturday last minute.

Yeah, keep an eye on their site a week or two before if you're flexible. I've seen some decent last-minute hotel offers pop up, but it's not a regular thing.

Is De Bonte Wever generally better than Preston Palace for a family with young kids (under 7)? Wondering about the activities for that age group.

E Eric Rivera 4 weeks ago
For younger kids, I'd lean towards De Bonte Wever. Their kids' club activities are pretty good, and the pool area is great for little ones. Preston Palace feels a bit more geared towards slightly older kids or adults, IMO.

Both are good, but De Bonte Wever has a really nice dedicated kids' area in the pool and more structured activities for the smaller ones. Preston Palace is fun, but sometimes feels a bit more chaotic with a mixed age group.

Hey, thinking about booking the all-inclusive. Does it actually include everything, like drinks and all the activities, or are there hidden fees?

S Sam J. 5 days ago
Yeah, pretty much everything. I went last year and drinks were covered, even some alcoholic ones. Only extra I paid for was a massage, but bowling and swimming were all in.

From my experience, the basics are definitely in there, food and most standard drinks. Some of the special event stuff or premium spirits might be extra, but the main stuff is included.

Planning a trip with my family from the US, we're flying into Amsterdam. How easy is it to get to De Bonte Wever from Schiphol?

L Linda Phillips 3 weeks ago
It's a bit of a trek from Schiphol, definitely not a quick hop. You'd probably take a train to Assen and then a short taxi or bus. I think it was about 2 hours total last time I did it.

R Rachel Mitchell 2 weeks ago
Yeah, train is your best bet. Assen station is pretty close to the resort, like a 10-15 min ride max after you get off the train.

I saw some early bird deals mentioned. How far in advance do you usually have to book to get those discounts?

J Josh Moore 3 weeks ago
For early bird, I usually aim for at least 3-4 months out, especially for peak seasons like summer or Christmas. That's when I've seen the best prices.

J Josh Sanchez 2 weeks ago
It varies, but if you book like 6 months ahead for a popular time, you're almost guaranteed a decent discount. Not sure of the exact cutoff though.
